Who We Are:

Dr. Elizabeth Schwarz
I am a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist and have spent over 20 years working with children, adults and families. As a result I have helped many patients with a wide array of challenges, including addressing their anxieties, navigating complicated family dynamics, and helping them identify and achieving their goals.

I received my B.S. and M.S. from Stanford University, and my medical degree from Rush University. I completed my psychiatric training at Northwestern University, after which I received a Child and Adolescent Fellowship at the University of Illinois. I then received Psychoanalytic Training at Columbia University.

I started my career working at the University of Illinois in the inner city of Chicago, where I managed the clinics dealing with pediatric stress, anxiety and mood disorders, as well as their behavioral health and welfare program. I then moved to New York and ran the Adolescent Inpatient Services at Cornell Medical Center. I have spent the past 20 years treating children, adults and families in New York City, as well as teaching as a member of the faculty at Columbia University.

I am also a parent and so I have experience in the trenches myself dealing with the challenges of parenting.

Dr. Carolyn Maraist
Carolyn has spent many years in both higher education and K-12 helping students
learn, often through challenging situations. These include issues such as helping
students with emotional needs that impact their learning; helping students from different socio-economic backgrounds; and helping students through crises. For example, she was a professor in China during the SARS epidemic and learned lessons from helping students through this period that could help students who are dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic.
